How to Make Hotel Linen Last Longer: Washing, Drying and Storage Tips
Hotel linen is washed daily. These washing, drying and storage habits help your sheets and towels last far longer.

Quick answer
To make hotel linen last longer, wash at 60°C, fill machines to about 80%, use a pH-balanced detergent with conditioner instead of chlorine bleach, dry on medium heat, and rotate stock first-in, first-out.
Washing
- 60°C is enough for hygiene in most hotels and is gentler than 90°C
- Load machines to about 80% — overloading causes friction damage
- Use a pH-balanced detergent made for commercial laundry (5 ml per kg with Cleansely L1 or L3)
- For white linen stains — blood, tea, coffee, make-up — pre-treat with Cleansely L4 Doff
- Avoid chlorine bleach on cotton
Drying and pressing
Dry on medium heat and take linen out while slightly damp before pressing. Over-drying makes cotton brittle — stiff sheets have already lost some strength.
Storage and rotation
- Rotate stock first-in, first-out so every set wears evenly
- Store on open shelves in a cool, dry room away from sunlight
- Check for small tears before storing — early repair is cheaper than replacing
Soften without extra detergent
A fabric conditioner such as Cleansely L2 reduces friction in the wash, so fabric keeps its shape and lasts longer.
