Quick answer

A hotel room turnover follows five steps: check the room, strip linen and rubbish, deep-clean the bathroom, clean the bedroom and make the bed, then restock amenities and do a final guest's-eye walkthrough.

1. Entry and check

  • Knock and announce, even on checked-out rooms
  • Open curtains and switch on all lights
  • Look for left-behind items and note any damage

2. Strip the room

Strip bed linen straight into the laundry bag — never onto the floor — and collect used towels, glasses and amenity packaging in one pass.

3. Bathroom

  • Apply toilet bowl cleaner (Cleansely C6) first and let it work
  • Clean mirror, then surfaces from high to low with bathroom cleaner (C1)
  • Clean shower or tub; use a descaler (C9) on hard-water marks
  • Finish the toilet, then the floor
  • Fit a WC band and restock amenities in the standard layout

4. Bedroom

  • Make the bed with fresh linen to your property standard
  • Dust top to bottom; wipe door handles, switches and remotes
  • Polish wood (C4) and glass (C3); mop or vacuum the floor (C7)
  • Restock the kettle kit, tissue and slippers

5. Final walkthrough

Stand at the door and look as a guest would: fresh smell, symmetrical bed, all lights working, amenities neatly placed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the order of cleaning a hotel room?

+

Check the room, strip linen, clean the bathroom, clean the bedroom and make the bed, then restock and do a final walkthrough.

Why apply toilet cleaner first?

+

Toilet bowl cleaner works best after 15–30 minutes, so applying it first lets it work while you clean other areas.
